Capacity-Building Strategy Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has endorsed a comprehensive strategy for building the capacity of the Coast Guard, which includes advanced training plans and modern equipment to enhance its readiness and capability to protect Yemen’s coasts and islands, and to counter various threats in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. This endorsement was announced during a meeting on Sunday in the temporary capital, Aden, between the Prime Minister and Major General Khaled Al-Qamali, Chairman of the Coast Guard, who presented the strategy’s objectives and the expected role it will play in strengthening the Coast Guard’s ability to protect territorial waters and combat various forms of smuggling.
